I love the little break from Christmas to News Years (which as an adult I’m incredibly grateful to have off). It’s the perfect time for reflection, eating copious amounts of binge watching Netflix. Speaking of which, I’m writing this post as I watch Star Wars with my family. It’s always fun to reflect on the past year and see how far you’ve come + make a list of things you want to improve on for the next year (here are mine from last year).
Grateful is what comes to mind when I try to sum up 2017. I had the opportunity to work with so many cool brands (Coach, truLOCAL, Shoppers Drug Mart, Thomas Sabo to name a few) and travel to some of my favourite cities (New York, Miami, LA, Montreal, and Minnesota). It was a year of personal development, growth and learning and I can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store. I don’t like resolutions because I tend to break them almost immediately, but I do like to set achievable goals for myself. Here’s a few key ones:
Drink more water. I am the worst at staying hydrated. This sounds so bad, but some days I’ll check my watch and see 6pm rolling around, and I realize I haven’t drank any water that day. SO I’m trying to change that, and drink my daily 2 litres. I also want to visit the gym more often, maybe take a spin class or two – I always do better in classes because I enjoy them a hell of a lot more than just ‘going to the gym’.
Between planning posts, taking photos, writing, blogging can be a lot to balance. I had a lot of overwhelming moments in 2017 and that’s because I wasn’t as organized as I should have been – so it’s definitely something I will be working on in 2018.
I’ve been very fortunate to travel a ton this past year but I want to do even more. Traveling and experiencing as many new cultures as possible is definitely one of my main goals at this point in my life, so I’m making it a priority to visit at least one place this year that I’ve never been before (even if it’s just a 3 hour road trip).
What are some of your goals for the new year? I’m so excited to start 2018 with all of you, I have a feeling it’s going to be a good one.
