So you may have noticed it’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted on here. And that, my friends, is because of so called *technical difficulties*. When your SD card full of blog/Instagram photos breaks (not to be confused with corrupted), but like a corner physically chipped off. I couldn’t recover any of them and it put me quite behind on my posts. As you can imagine I was more than a little bummed. But after a few days I got over it – stuff happens and you just gotta move on, y’know? Still, there are lessons to be learned: back up allllll your photos as soon as you possibly can, you’ll thank me later. Ok, enough about my tech probs – let’s get into the nitty gritty of the post, shall we?
Temps are dropping, pumpkins are everywhere, and the air is getting crispy – so it could only mean one thing: fall is here to stay, friends. And while it’s my absolute favourite season, it’s also the time of the year where my skin and hair need some extra TLC, you know? Dry skin + hair ain’t cute so I’ve rounded up some of my go to products to get though the chillier months.
I’m always switching up my lotions and creams, I love trying out new products. So when I stumbled upon Soap and Glory, it was love at first touch. Lather? Scrub? I dunno. The Sugar Crush Body Lotion is rich with six skin conditioning oils and Soap & Glory’s AHA Fruit Complex, for all-over silkiness. It’s the best when I use it after a shower, because it absorbs so quickly into the skin.
Since it’s the season of dry skin, a good exfoliant is a must. The The Smoothie Star Breakfast Club features a blend of oats, sugar and sea salt + three powerful moisturizers that give me the smoothest skin ever! Plus it smells like maple which is perfect for fall.
I am super picky with what I use on my face because I have extremely sensitive skin. But I’ve found a few key products that work! To take off my makeup, I love using Micellar Water, and this one by Life Brand is hands down my favourite. It lifts away oil, dirt and makeup without over-drying my already very dry skin.
I use the the Deep Cleansing Milk from Soap and Glory at night to clean, energize and purify my skin. This stuff is golden, let me tell ya – it dissolves makeup and smoothes the skin, with its special clogged-pore formula containing PEACH & GOJUICE extracts.
After that, I’ll whip out The Fab Pore Daily Micro Smoothing Moisture Lotion and use it on my clean skin. Not only does it minimize the appearance of large pores, but this lotion boosts levels of moisture but is instantly mattifying (so you can use it in the morning, pre-makeup). It also great for brightening my skin, and removing dull skin cells.
If I’m traveling or at the gym, where a complete face-wash routine isn’t practical, I use Yes To Tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal Facial Wipes. These little black wipes are phenomenal – they contain charcoal to detoxify and deep clean – and make my skin feel all tingly and soft.
All these skincare products can be found at Shoppers Drug Mart , and if you aren’t close to a location, I’ve linked other places to buy them online!
My hair is naturally frizzy, so I need all the help I can get as the colder months approach. One of my go-to products to combat the frizz has been the Marc Anthony Smoothing Cream. You just apply it to wet hair and blow dry for days of frizz-free hair. This cream hydrates, strengthens and smoothes hair so I’m able to style my hair with 0 problems. Along with the Smoothing Cream, I use the Marc Anthony Argan Oil – just apply to damp hair and distribute evenly. It protects and conditions hair, so you’re left with shiny, healthy locks.
