Happy Canada Day guys! As you are all well aware, it’s Canada’s 150th birthday, making it an extra special one. Everyone I know has purchased all their #Canada150 gear and is amped for the weekend. I can’t wait to celebrate all things Canada, eh. Seeing everyone show their Canada pride makes me a real happy camper because I absolutely love being a Canadian. Don’t get me wrong – I’d love to be able to live in the US or Europe at some point in my life (top picks are currently LA & Italy), but I will always be a Canuck at heart.
Here’s what I love aboot Canada and being able to call the Great White North my home:
Our beautiful country, full of both nature and city life. Hockey. Inclusiveness. Togetherness. Diversity. All the scenic parks, read: Vancouver. The 6ix (the fact that we have a cool nickname for one of our biggest cities). Some cool celebs are from Canada, including Rachel McAdams, Seth Rogan, and Ryan, both Gosling & Reynolds. Peace. All our beautifully diverse cultures and religions. We The North sweaters. Canadian bacon. The Raptors. Drake. The polite + nice stereotype that is so true. Free health care. Grabbing a Double-Double at Tim Hortons. The Biebs. Freedom of speech. Maple syrup. Toques. Experiencing all four seasons. When a nice guy from New York starts chatting with you on the bus, and tells you how wonderful he thinks Canada is. How everyone he’s met is incredibly nice – including yours truly. How passionate he says we are about our sports teams. The fact that I say the letter ‘Z’ as ‘Zed’ and every time I do in the States, I’m happily reminded with a look of confusion, that I’m a true Canadian .
What are you doing to celebrate today? I’m spending the day at a BBQ and then watching fireworks at night. As for what I’m wearing, I will be happily rocking a Peace Collective dress, which is actually a size L t-shirt. I added these Huarache kicks and a suede hat for a more athletic look.
Let me know how you’re celebrating Canada day in the comments – and what you’re wearing!
