Wing it. And you’re done.
Kidding. Does anyone else think I’m funny? Just me? Ok.
Here’s how you can plan your trip to maximize your time, see everything you want and most importantly EAT everything your little heart desires on your next vacation.
make a list.
Make a list of EVERYTHING you want to do / see / where you want to eat, alllll of that. Instagram is your best friend. Especially for food! There are SO many foodie / eats Instagram accounts that focus on the best places in the city. Prior to our NYC trip, let me just tell you – Tylor and I were doing some serious stalking on @foodbabyny‘s account. If you’re stuck on what to do in the city you’re visiting, Pinterest has got you covered. There are so many cool city guides, showing you the best things to do, see and eat in your city of choice plus pictures for those perfect, drool worthy Instagram shots. What’s even better? A lot of these guides are time sensitive – so if you’re traveling to a particular city for 2 days or a full week, Pinterest has it all.
Once, you’ve made a list of everything you want to see and eat, start organizing! Group tourist spots, shopping, and restaurants in terms of where they are located. That way you can break up your trip by location and maximize your activities each day.
Loosely plan your day. For example, if you want to hit one coffee shop, brunch place, shop and do a little exploring in one day, then make a LOOSE schedule. I can’t stress this enough. Traveling means unexpected things happen. You may want to spend more time at a touristy location. Or the line up at a long-awaited restaurant means you’re only going to be seated in an hour. Vacation is about relaxing after all. So don’t try to plan every minute of your vacation, just enjoy it.
Start checking the weather a few weeks before you’re supposed to leave, so you can get an idea of what to expect. It seems pretty obvious, but some people forget and assume they know what the weather will be like. This way you’ll know what to pack, what to wear during the day – if you’ll need layers or if you can get away with shorts and a t-shirt.
Make a pit stop at Shopper’s Drug Mart. No matter how well I’ve prepped for a trip, I always need to swing by Shoppers to pick up any last minute travel essentials. Albeit, I end up buying more than I usually need but that’s only because they have the best selection of travel sized products, makeup, and beauty tools. I always stop by the snack aisles because c’mon, who doesn’t love all of their snack options for a road trip/plane ride?
I’d love to know how you plan for a trip. Let me know your planning process in the comments below!
