You guys, I have never been a morning person. Leaving my bed to actually wake up was not something I would ever look forward to. And when that alarm would go off, it’d be snoozeville for an hour or so until the last possible minute. Well, I guess getting older does change things because mornings have now become my favourite part of the day. I think it’s mostly because there’s comfort in a routine, and mornings usually allow for that. Or it’s the avocado toast. Yep. I’m a sucker for a good piece of avocado toast. Or anything avocado. Anyways, lets get into my morning routine, shall we?
coffee + breaky
Remember how your parents used to say that breakfast was the most important meal of the day? Well, they were right. A hot latte, scrambled eggs and my latest variation of avocado toast are the best way to begin the day. Who’s with me? And if I’m feeling healthy, I’ll quickly whip up a smoothie. Anything w/ strawberry is my go-to drink.
grab my phone.
But not for the reason you might think. I like to catch up on my reading articles/blog posts I haven’t gotten a chance to obsess over yet, either from Coveteur or anything I’ve saved on Pinterest lately. I stay away from my emails, texts, and social media in the morning because sometimes those things tend to stress me out and that is not a healthy way to start the day. Mornings should be relaxing and inspiring, and I try really hard to keep it that way. And thanks to Richmond and Finch, I get to scroll in style. These are the most aesthetically pleasing phone cases I’ve ever owned, and I really think you need to have one in your life. You can use the code teresa20 for 20% off one for yourself!
If there aren’t any new articles/blog posts for me to catch up on, I like to get in a chapter or two of a book I’m currently reading. Right now I’m obsessing over Bloom: Navigating Life and Style by Estée Lalonde. Inspo is a must in the morning, and this book is full of it.
Right after I’m done eating, I grab my planner and make a to-do list. I like to see everything that’s on my plate for a given day, so I include work tasks, personal errands and any other commitments I have. I will then take 5-10 minutes to jot down any blog ideas / inspo / brainstorm sessions because the morning is when my mind is the freshest and most creative (get those juices flowing, you know?).
Lastly, I like to get some fresh air, and take my puppy out for a walk. If I’m pressed for time, I make it a quick 10 minute walk and if it’s a more relaxed morning, then I’ll take my time, and make sure he gets a nice, lengthy stroll.
