It seems like mother nature’s been trying to fit all four seasons into one week. One day its 13 degrees, the next its -11. C’mon weather gods, get it together. Me? I’m so ready for spring. For those who follow me on Instagram, I’m sure you’ve seen that I talk about it every other other post. It’s never too early to get excited about the new season + update your spring wardrobe. Here are 5 of my favorite spring staples, and they also make great transition pieces.
Easily the simplest staple for spring. I love pairing a white tee under bombers and heavier denim for cooler mornings. Or I’ll even wear one by itself with a fitted pair of jeans and Nike sneakers for an easy, casual look.
Bombers are so easy to wear and there’s so many options to choose from! Cropped, long, denim, there’s a style out there for everyone. Throw one over a pretty cami + skirt and you’re good to go – weather permitting of course. This soft pink number is from Zara.
What other shoes can take you from Sunday errands to Monday meetings to Friday date night? Loafers are perfect for spring, and instantly spruce up any outfit. I can’t wait to style these on warmer days! Loafers + denim are also from Zara (I have a slight addiction).
Self-explanatory. Who else loves walking around in pants that feel like sweats but are socially acceptable? Ya, everyone. And here’s the cherry on top: boyfriend jeans work for nearly every occasion you can think of.
Like I said before, a cami is great for pairing with bomber jackets or long cardigans for spring. I like wearing this one from Forever 21 over t-shirts for a more contemporary look. Layers are the trick to spring’s fickle weather, and a cami helps you transition from chilly mornings to warmer afternoons.
I saved my favorite for last. This oversized TOPSHOP jacket isn’t only for spring, I wear it under heavier coats in the winter all the time. But when the weather gets warmer, you can wear denim jackets on their own, with a large blanket scarf or with more denim (and rock the Canadian tux look we’re so famous for).
Obviously, all these items go extremely well together. You can wear them together or choose to build an outfit around one of the pieces. Having a few staples that you can wear season after season means you can easily update your wardrobe with inexpensive, trendier items. Happy shopping!
