8 tanks of gas, 5 stops at McDonald’s, and a ridiculous amount of munchies later, I’ve successfully completed my first international road trip. If you read my Minnesota Travel Diary blog post, you know that I slept through a large portion of the drive to and from Minnesota. That was true of the drive from Toronto to Chicago as well (sorry Ty). We went to Chicago to explore the city, visit a few friends, and also to attend a wedding in Minnesota.
I realize that this trip took place 4 months ago and I’m only getting around to posting about it now (umm you’re a bad blogger Teresa). But better late than never, no?
We stayed with our friends Angela and Ben, who are one of the coolest couples I have ever met. I hadn’t met them prior to the trip, but I can now say they are some of the best people I know. Not only did Angela and Ben open up their home to us, they were amazing tour guides of the city, showed us all the best places to eat, and took us to all the touristy spots. Thanks guys, you’re awesome.
The road trip was a week long adventure but actual time spent in Chicago was about 4 full days, in which we accomplished A TON. Art Institute of Chicago, the bean, an architecture tour, the navy pier and an embarrassing number of brunches (we like brunch, ok?) are all included. Some of my favorites were just wandering around the city + spontaneously meeting up with one of my college friends. Chicago, you are beautiful, and I will definitely be back to visit you soon.
